USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Penn Fierce Spinning Reel (Sports) These reels are well made, cool looking, and smooth. I fish for freshwater catfish and these reels are working extremely well so far. I have them loaded with 30 lb. test line and they cast great. I have only owned them for a month but in my opinion these are some of the best reels for fresh and saltwater for the price. They are part of the newest line of Penn reels out there and so far I love the two I bought! Thanks Penn for continuing to make good quality equipment.

Used it extensively for three weeks and was impressed. This is an excellent reel for Casting from shore. Pulled in some small barracudas and it handled vey well.

I purchased this because in the past I used Penn reels and liked them. Now that I've taken up fishing again I thought I'd get the 4000 to use off the Jetties, in the Bay and the Flats near South Padre Island, TX. The person at the store was adamant that I not purchase this reel because Penn is now made in China. To me it doesn't matter who makes it provided it is that same superior quality I used to remember. I bought it anyway. Day one it worked like a champ for a few hours and then it started sticking, hard to crank and jamming. I thought I had line around the bail arm or wrapped around the spool. Nope. It looked good. After trying to manipulate it to work by spinning the spool by hand it started working again. By then my lure was hung on the rocks. I lost that lure. The next day I was in the surf and the reel was jammed tight as soon as I cast my bait. Again I had to manually manipulate the spool to get it working. After that it worked fine. It is odd for...
