great little reel for the money, September 17, 2011 By Big G (ARKANSAS, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Shimano Sedona (6.2:1, 2/270, 4/140, 6/110) (Sports) I have numerous Shimanos that I use and abuse offshore. From Spheros 6000s to Tiagra 80s, I have always been very pleased with the quality and function of Shimano reels. I bought this reel to use trout fishing here in Arkansas. I wanted a reel that had a good smooth drag but wouldnt break the bank. I matched it with a Gloomis 2-6 lb 5'6" rod, 4lb berkley xl and it has performed very well. The drag has a smooth initial engagment and very little jerking unlike most other reels in its price catagory. My only complaint is that the bail trip becomes a bit weak over time and you must occasionally use your other hand to engage it. This is actually a good habit to get into anyway as it will prolong the life of the reels internal mechanisms. Overall I am very pleased with the quality/price ratio of this reel and would not hesitate to purchase another.
